My main project is to make music
Born in Turnhout and thanks to his great passion for music, he grew from a young flutist to an all-round musician. Lifelong learning from music academy to music teacher, from jazz studio to the conservatory in Rotterdam, from African music in Lille to ... has given him knowledge of different musical forms, genres and styles. Traditional music, Indian music, Flamenco, African music, making music together with persons with disabilities, classical music, jazz music, pop music...Erwin connects it all.
As a music teacher, music therapist, composer and performing musician, he has already experienced numerous beautiful musical highlights. In the 90s: Collaboration with musicians of the Philharmonia Orchestra of London and persons with disabilities led by composer Duncan Chapman. Collaboration with Drake research project in London, the University of York and Roland Benelux where he has been actively researching the use of music and technology with persons with disabilities for many years.
In June 2005, he and the group Peter Otten and Co, a music group for people with disabilities, won the Belgian preselections for Eurosong 2005 in Strombeek-Bever. The winning song bore the name Make music from your heart. In collaboration with Piet Roelen, manager of Helmut Lotti, he collaborated on the video clip and CD recording of this song. On November 18, 2005, this song was sung under his supervision in Graz, Austria to represent Belgium at the European Song Contest for people with an intellectual disability....
In early 2007, he began supervising Briezz. Briezz is a new, original music group and the first orchestra of people with disabilities to function autonomously. Briezz toured all over Flanders and sometimes the Netherlands, appeared on several TV recordings; a.o. man bijt hond and the red carpet... with Guido Belcanto as Peter and protector. He traveled together with some members of Briezz with Feco (First Europeon Color Orchestra) at home and abroad
In 2015 he accompanied another group with young people with autism; "the bandshakers ".
In 2017, he accompanied a choir with people with mild disabilities: " the beautiful stars ".

He wrote music for Bansuri and the classical music ensemble " Vivarte" from Lier.
He has a duet with harpist Luc Vanlaere with whom he was a guest twice at the International Harp Festival in Rio De Janeiro and recently at the World Harp Congress in Cardiff Wales.
Erwin has released 3 CDs in recent years where the security of the flute is central: "Flute whispers", "Beyond words", "a way to silence".
Recently "Soundscales" was launched : the intuitive harp playing of Luc Vanlaere, the voice of Griet Vermeiren and the personal style of Erwin with which they make music with the heartbeat of people in it.
